HMISSE RECIPE 


Hmiss or hmisse,  An Algerian salad made from grilled bell peppers and tomatoes, tomatoes cleaned off their skins and browned in olive oil with garlic a very simple quick and above all things the starter.

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Cooking time: 20 minutes

Servings: 4


INGREDIENTS:

  • Two green peppers
  • Two red bell peppers
  • Two tomatoes
  • Three cloves of Garlic
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • Chopped parsley 
INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Grilled peppers and tomatoes in the oven or on the barbecue.
  2. Remove from the oven and place the peppers and tomatoes in a bag (the skin will be easier to remove.)
  3. Remove the skin and seeds and let them drain in a colander.
  4. Heat the olive oil in a pan, brown the minced garlic at the tomato cut into small pieces. Leave on the heat for a few minutes stirring occasionally.
  5. Add peppers cut into small pieces, salt, and pepper. Leave the simmer for approximately 20 minutes stirring occasionally.
  6. Serve on the small plate, drizzled with chopped parsley.
