Ingredients:
- 2 pie crusts (homemade or store-bought)
- 8 cups thinly sliced, peeled apples (about 8 medium apples)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 large egg, beaten
- Coarse sugar for sprinkling
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out one of your pie crusts and place it in a 9-inch pie dish.
- In a large bowl, toss together the sliced apples, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust, making sure to spread it out evenly.
- Dot the top of the apple mixture with pieces of butter.
- Roll out the second pie crust and place it on top of the apple mixture. Use a knife to trim the excess crust around the edges.
- Use a fork to crimp the edges of the pie crust together.

- Let the pie cool for at least 1 hour before slicing and serving.
- Enjoy your classic apple pie!
