 Tagalog Beef Pochero


Ingredients:

  • 1 kilo beef short loin
  • 1/2 head garlic, chopped
  • 1 medium size onion, chopped
  • 4 pcs. saba, plantain banana
  • 2 medium size potato, skinned, cut into wedges
  • 1 small size carrot, skinned, cut into wedges
  • 1 small bundle, green beans, trimmed
  • 1 bundle bok choy, trimmed
  • 1/4 cup patis, fish sauce
  • 1 small can chick peas, boiled 
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp. peppercorns 
  • salt and pepper 
  • cooking oil


Preparation:

  1. Cut the beef into serving pieces, wash thoroughly. 
  2. In a sauce pan sauté garlic and onion, add in the beef stir cook until color change and start to sizzle. 
  3. Add in the fish sauce and tomato sauce, stir for 2 to 3 minutes. 
  4. Now add in 2 to 3 cups of water and peppercorns, bring to a boil for about 30 to 45 minutes or until beef is tender, add more water as necessary. 
  5. Add in the potato, carrot, simmer for another some minutes or until potato are tender. 
  6. Add in the banana and the vegetables, cook for 3 to 5 minutes or until vegetables are just cooked. 
  7. Season with salt to taste. Add in boiled chick peas and cook for another minute, serve hot with a cooked white rice.
