 Beef Steak (Filipino)


Preparation time: 15 minutea 
Cooking time: 1 hour
Marinating time: 1 hour


Ingredients:
  • 1 kg. beef sirloin, thin slices
  • 2 lemons, juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce, dark
  • 1 onion, peeled and thin sliced
  • 1 more onion, peeled and sliced into rings
  • 1 head garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 tablespoon olive oil, or your choice
  • 1 cup water
  • salt to taste
  • green peas (for twist, optional)


Instructions:
  1. In a bowl combine beef, lemon juice, soy sauce, sliced onions, garlic and pepper. Mix well and marinate at least 30 minutes.
  2. Strain the meat and gently squeeze from the marination and reserve the liquid for later use.
  3. In a pan over high heat, add oil. Sauté the beef and cook for about 3 to 5 minutes in total. Cook until slightly browned, and then transfer beef in a plate and set aside.
  4. Pour-in remaining marinade to the same pan. Simmer over low heat for about 3 minutes stirring once. Return fried beef to the pan and gently stir to combine.
  5. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes or until sauce thickens.
  6. Top with fried onions and cook for another minute. Transfer Bistek Tagalog in a serving dish and serve warm with steamed rice. Enjoy!
