Beef Steak (Filipino)
Preparation time: 15 minutea
Cooking time: 1 hour
Marinating time: 1 hour
Ingredients:
- 1 kg. beef sirloin, thin slices
- 2 lemons, juice
- 1/4 cup soy sauce, dark
- 1 onion, peeled and thin sliced
- 1 more onion, peeled and sliced into rings
- 1 head garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 3 tablespoon olive oil, or your choice
- 1 cup water
- salt to taste
- green peas (for twist, optional)
Instructions:
- In a bowl combine beef, lemon juice, soy sauce, sliced onions, garlic and pepper. Mix well and marinate at least 30 minutes.
- Strain the meat and gently squeeze from the marination and reserve the liquid for later use.
- In a pan over high heat, add oil. Sauté the beef and cook for about 3 to 5 minutes in total. Cook until slightly browned, and then transfer beef in a plate and set aside.
- Pour-in remaining marinade to the same pan. Simmer over low heat for about 3 minutes stirring once. Return fried beef to the pan and gently stir to combine.
- Let it simmer for about 5 minutes or until sauce thickens.
- Top with fried onions and cook for another minute. Transfer Bistek Tagalog in a serving dish and serve warm with steamed rice. Enjoy!
