Crab nutrition fact: Crab meat is high in vitamin B12, and 2-3 ounces of crab meat is enough to meet adult daily B12 requirements.

Are crabs healthy to eat? Eating a lot of crab meat can actually improve your heart health. Crab is a good source of Omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, and protein, all of which help lower cholesterol. Lowering your cholesterol levels helps reduce the risk of strokes and heart attacks. 

Who should not eat crabs? People with cardiovascular disease: Because crab meat contains a lot of cholesterol (in 100 grams of crab meat has 125 mg of cholesterol), people with high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease should limit eating crabs.

Crab contains Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) is important in the production of steroids and red blood cells, the promotion of normal growth, and the maintenance of the skin, eyes and the nervous system.

Servings: for 4 people


Ingredients:

  • 1 can of crabmeat 
  • 12 asparagus tips (also frozen)
  • 1 egg yolk 
  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil 
  • 2 tablespoons of low-fat yogurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard
  • a little lemon juice 
  • chervil
  • salt & pepper 


Preparations:

  1. Remove any cartilage from the crabmeat, cook the asparagus tips (about 4 cm long) for 3-4 minutes, arrange the salad, well washed and dried, on the bottom of each plate and cover with crab and asparagus. 
  2. Whip a mayonnaise with the egg yolk, mustard, lemon juice, salt, pepper and the oil poured in slowly. 
  3. Finally, add the low-fat yogurt. Cover the salad with the sauce and decorate with fresh chervil leaves.

What should drink after eating crab?
Ginger tea is traditionally served after eating steamed hairy crab, as the crab is classified as a cooling food.
